Over 125 years of history

With an exemplary family history and industry lineage, KOW Cattle Company's heritage brings over 125 years of experience passed down through generations of farming and ranching in southwest Iowa. With family at the heart and soul of their business, KOW founders Jon Urbana and Craig Zimmerman are 6th generation farmers with a mission of passing on their values and pride in raising, sourcing, and delivering the most sought after steaks to your family—from ranch to table.

The KOW family has been making an impact in the industry throughout the past century—beginning with Jon and Craig's Great Grandfather creating groundbreaking relations with other countries in the beef-producing business. Back in the '70s, their family was the first to ship quality breeding stock via fully customized Boeing 747 aircraft to safely handle and deliver the animals—and the first to bring Wagyu to the United States. Over the years, the KOW family has excelled in all aspects of beef production—from livestock, refrigerated transport, dairy production, meatpacking and processing, and restaurant ownership.

Today it's not just discerning home cooks that pride themselves in preparing delicious meals with premium KOW steaks. You'll find some of the world's most notable culinary leaders like award-winning chefs Nobu Matsuhisa and David Chang, choosing to work with the best possible Wagyu in the world. Renowned restaurants like Strip House, Delmonico's, BLT Steak, The Grill, The James Beard House, The Gotham Burger Social Club, Bistrot Leo, and Boucherie are also loyal fans. KOW cattle leverages the experience and expertise from past generations to optimize, source, and deliver an elite product to your table while continuing to instill the family values of raising and handling of livestock… the right way.
